Keppel MET Renewables (KMR) has acquired a 38-MWp solar photovoltaic (PV) project in southern Italy through its joint venture with MET Group and Keppel Corp Ltd. The project is expected to be shovel-ready by 2025, with commercial operations starting in the following year. KMR already has a 200-MWp-plus portfolio of solar projects in southern Italy.
MET Group aims to achieve a 2 GW installed capacity renewable portfolio by 2026 and plans to expand its wind and solar projects throughout the European Union.
The joint venture is also eyeing opportunities in Western European markets like France, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, according to Tan Boon Leng, Managing Director, Projects, Supply Chain & HSSE, Infrastructure Division, Keppel, and a KMR board member.
